The Instant-View Ovulation Midstream Test is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of luteinizing hormone (LH) in urine to aid in predicting ovulation timing.
The detection of a woman’s luteinizing hormone (hLH) surge is widely used to help predict ovulation. Ovulation is regulated by the elevation of hLH, which typically remains at a basal level during the menstrual cycle but experiences a brief, rapid increase, known as the LH surge, about 14 days before the next period begins. This LH surge triggers ovulation, or the release of an egg from the ovary. After ovulation, hLH levels return to baseline within two to three days.
Research indicates that conception is most likely to occur within 36 hours following the hLH surge. The Ovulation One-Step Check leverages antibodies specifically targeted to hLH. A positive result on this test suggests that ovulation may occur within the next 36 hours.

What is LH? Luteinizing hormone (LH) is a hormone produced by the pituitary gland that plays a key role in the menstrual cycle. It stimulates ovulation, triggering the release of an egg from the ovary. LH levels surge just before ovulation, indicating the most fertile period of the menstrual cycle.
What type of test is this?
This is a qualitative test — it helps determine whether or not you have elevated LH levels, indicating that ovulation is likely to occur within the next 24-36 hours.
Why should you do this test?
You should use this test to predict ovulation and determine your most fertile window if you are trying to conceive.
For more information about LH testing, you can refer to the FDA website here.
