10 ng/mL fentanyl cutoff
Qualitatively screens prepared samples for fentanyl at the product’s stated cutoff.

Multiple sample formats
Designed for liquid samples and for powder or pill samples that have been diluted in water as directed.

Read at five minutes
Interpret the result at 5 minutes. Do not interpret the strip after more than 5 minutes.

Simple dip-strip procedure
Immerse the absorbent end near the MAX marker line for at least 15 seconds.

Built-in procedural control
A visible control line helps confirm adequate sample migration and proper test performance.

Individually pouched tests
Each single-use strip is sealed in a pouch with a desiccant until testing.

Important safety limitation: A negative or positive result does not mean that a tested substance is safe to use. A negative result does not rule out fentanyl below the detection limit and does not guarantee detection of every fentanyl analogue. The strip cannot determine the purity, composition or amount of fentanyl in a sample.

Test Specifications

Analyte Abbreviation Calibrator Cutoff Sample Types Read Time
Fentanyl FTY Fentanyl 10 ng/mL Liquid; powder or pill diluted in water 5 minutes
About analogue detection: The package insert reports detection of certain fentanyl-related compounds at specified concentrations, but the test does not detect every fentanyl analogue. It specifically states that alfentanil, 4-ANPP, carfentanil and sufentanil were not detected at concentrations up to 100 µg/mL. Always interpret a negative result cautiously.

How to Perform the Test

Prepare the sample
For a pill or powder, crush or collect the material and dilute it in water following the package insert and applicable local public-health or harm-reduction guidance. Pour a liquid sample into a testing cup.

Open the pouch
Bring the test and sample to 18°C-30°C (65°F-86°F). Remove the strip from its pouch and use it as soon as possible.

Dip for at least 15 seconds
Hold the printed end and immerse the absorbent end vertically near the MAX marker line. Do not allow the liquid level to exceed the MAX line.

Lay the strip flat
Remove the strip from the sample and place it on a clean, dry, nonabsorbent surface.

Read at five minutes
Interpret the result at 5 minutes. Results read after more than 5 minutes may be inaccurate and should not be used.

Required but not provided: A timer or clock, measuring cup or scoop, testing cup and pill crusher are required as applicable to the type of sample being tested. Read the complete package insert before use.

Understanding the Results

Result Line Pattern Meaning
Negative One line appears in the control region (C) and one line appears in the test region (T). Any faint distinguishable test line is interpreted as negative. Fentanyl was not detected or is present below the test’s detection limit. This result does not establish that the substance is safe.
Preliminary Positive One line appears in the control region (C), with no line in the test region (T). The sample produced a preliminary positive result. A more specific analytical method is required for confirmation.
Invalid No line appears in the control region (C), including when a line appears only in the test region. The result is invalid. Repeat the test using a new strip and follow the procedure exactly.
Confirmation required: This test provides only a preliminary qualitative result. Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS) or Liquid Chromatography/Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS-MS) is the recommended confirmatory method. Professional judgment should be applied when evaluating any result, particularly a preliminary positive.

Storage and Handling

Store sealed at 2°C-30°C
Keep each strip in its sealed pouch at 36°F-86°F until the printed expiration date.

Protect from damaging conditions
Keep away from direct sunlight, moisture and heat. Do not freeze.

Single use only
Discard the strip after one use and follow applicable local regulations for disposal.

Inspect before use
Do not use a test beyond its expiration date or when the pouch is punctured or improperly sealed.

Instructions and Product Documents

Frequently Asked Questions

What samples can be tested with this fentanyl strip?

The strip is designed for liquid samples and for powder or pill samples that have been diluted in water according to the package insert and applicable local guidance.

What is the fentanyl cutoff?

The product’s stated fentanyl cutoff is 10 ng/mL.

How quickly should the result be read?

Read the result at 5 minutes. The package insert states that results read after more than 5 minutes may be inaccurate and should not be used.

Does a negative result mean the sample is safe?

No. A negative result does not mean that a substance is safe. Fentanyl may be present below the test’s detection limit, and the strip does not guarantee detection of every fentanyl analogue.

Does this strip detect carfentanil?

The package insert states that carfentanil was not detected at concentrations up to 100 µg/mL. Interpret a negative result cautiously because this test does not detect every potent fentanyl-related substance.

Can the test determine the amount or purity of fentanyl?

No. This is a qualitative screening test. It cannot determine the quantity of fentanyl or the purity or complete composition of a liquid, powder or pill sample.

Is a preliminary positive result final?

No. A preliminary positive result requires confirmation using a more specific analytical method. The package insert recommends GC/MS or LC/MS-MS.

Is this test OTC or CLIA-waived?

No such designation appears in the product insert. This configuration is labeled for forensic use only and should not be represented as an OTC or CLIA-waived test.

Who may purchase this product?

DrugTestKitUSA restricts sales to qualified companies using the product for criminal-justice purposes. A signed Forensic Use Only statement is required before the order can be fulfilled.

How many tests are included?

Each box contains 25 individually pouched, single-use fentanyl test strips.

Security at Stripe: Learn how Stripe handles security.

A PCI-certified auditor has audited Stripe. We’re a certified PCI Service Provider Level 1. This is the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry. To accomplish this, we use the best-in-class security tools and practices to maintain a high level of security at Stripe.

HTTPS and HSTS for secure connections

Stripe forces HTTPS for all services using TLS (SSL), including our public website and the Dashboard to ensure secure connections:

  • Stripe.js is served only over TLS.
  • Stripe’s official libraries connect to Stripe’s servers over TLS and verify TLS certificates on each connection.

We regularly audit the details of our implementation, including the certificates we serve, the certificate authorities we use, and the ciphers we support. We use HSTS to ensure that browsers interact with Stripe only over HTTPS. Stripe is also on the HSTS preloaded lists for both Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.

Sensitive data and communication encryption

All card numbers are encrypted at rest with AES-256. Decryption keys are stored on separate machines. None of Stripe’s internal servers and daemons can obtain plain text card numbers but can request that cards are sent to a service provider on a static allowlist. Stripe’s infrastructure for storing, decrypting, and transmitting card numbers runs in a separate hosting environment, and doesn’t share any credentials with Stripe’s primary services including our API and website.
